Week 4: June 14 - 20
Wrapped up my last week of classes at Sotheby's and did more exploring...
Sunday: Walked through Hyde Park and Kensington Park to the Serpentine Galleries. Afternoon exploring the Museum of Natural History and South Kensington.
Monday: Three Lectures: Plato's Allegory of the Cave, Biennales and Triennials, and Critical Writing. Afternoon at the British Museum. Fabulous Pad Thai for dinner at Wagamama. Worked on my presentation of Gerhard Richter's Cage Paintings.
Tuesday: Class Presentations: Critical Analysis of Contemporary Artworks. Two Lectures: Painting in the 21st Century and Photography: Documentary Style and New Documentary Forms. Walked around Carnaby Street before going to bed early!
Wednesday: Day trip to Margate to see Grayson Perry's exhibit, Provincial Punk, at Turner Contemporary. Spent the afternoon exploring the cute seaside town and visiting the Shell Grotto. Round II at Harrods.
Thursday: Final Lecture: Demystifying Art Theory. Joined a classmate to see Savage Beauty, the incredible Alexander McQueen retrospective at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Friday: Visual Analysis Test. Course Recap: The Art We Have Seen. Farewell Lunch and final class "field trip" to the neighborhood wine bar. Stocked up on British goodies at Selfridges and Marks & Spencer. Walked through Green Park and St. James Park to Buckingham Palace. Sunset walk along the Thames.
Saturday: Morning at Portobello Road Market. Afternoon at Borough Market. Evening at Tate Modern.
